Halloween 2009

Halloween has passed. And I'm doing a post now? Well you see, it's not my fault.

Here in Australia, the only way to access the Internet is to get a USB, load the data onto the USB, hire a Kangaroo, and then put the USB into the Kangaroo's pouch. It then hops away on it's two hind legs, to the nearest beacon of civilisation, where my post is delivered to you all, and it is rewarded with a Koala sandwich.

As you can probably tell, this takes a while.

Mustard Pimp - Zombie Revenge
Designer Drugs - ZOMBIES!

Right now, Vampires are the fashion for the majority of adolescents. I however, am a bloody nerd. Zombies anyday.

Compression : I

First of the Compression series. Let's see how this goes, hey?

From the gospelesque vocals to the basic synths, French Horn Rebellion has got that Passion Pit sound down to a tee.

French Horn Rebellion - Up All Night

'Not Made For Love' by Metronomy, two remixes here. Joakim's remix is quirky, but in a slightly lethargic, who's-the-new-kid-he's-a-weirdo way. Astronomer's is equally quirky, but has a more upbeat, acoustic feel.

Metronomy - Not Made For Love (Joakim Remix)
Metronomy - Not Made For Love (Astronomer Remix)

Grum (formerly GRUM) has been remixed by Joe & Will Ask?, and, in typical J&WA? fashion, the track is club oriented, but unlike most, it somehow shines through, even to a casual listener, providing a melodious drop at 1:30. Drop at 3:16 is also quite pleasant too.

Grum - Heartbeats (Joe & Will Ask? Remix)

Designer Drugs apply their horrorhouse dance-floor formula to the delectably French 'Baby Baby Baby'. Horror Theme for a French Femme Fatale? My opinion?

Definitely.

Make The Girl Dance - Baby Baby Baby (Designer Drugs Remix)

Shooting Switchblade

Get your Shooting Switchblades here. $25 dollars for one. $40 dollars for two. Bargain.

The first one here is for all you patriots, it's 100% Australian. Fashioned in Sydney by a guild called Bag Raiders, then finished off in Perth by a master craftsman who goes by the name of Shazam. It has a light, festive feel about it.

The second, my friend, is pure American quality. No fakes here. Dark and heavy, this one is good for slashing. Or partying.

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars (Shazam Dub Mix)
Heartsrevolution - Switchblade (Designer Drugs Remix)

Watch out, these are sharp.

Designer Drugs

Designer Drugs have been ripping up the music scene in the US of A for a while now, they're one of the few good American Electro acts. They've remixed names such as Little Boots, N.A.S.A., Treasure Fingers, as well as American Alternative bands like Avian X, Velvet Code and Freezepop.

I have two more recent remixes here for you, and an absolute stunner of a remix of, erm, Mariah Carey...

The Secret Handshake - Make Up Your Mind (Designer Drugs Remix)
Thieves Like Us - Your Heart Feels (Designer Drugs Remix)
Mariah Carey - I'll Be Loving You Long Time (Designer Drugs Remix)

Don't you just hate it when people scroll through your artists and pick out the embarassing names?

"Eww, you like Lady Gaga?"
"I just wanted to see what she sounded like, and I haven't gotten around to deleting it off my iPod."
"Sureeeeeeeee."

National Aeronautics Space Administration

N.A.S.A. remixes. A whole bucket load of them. This post is the direct result of being lazy.

Mr Oizo's is original, quirky. Designer Drugs' is dark, stomping. Steve Aoki's is extroverted, loud. Aston Shuffles is inventive, catchy. Treasure Fingers is glistening, 'epicwave'.

N.A.S.A. - Strange Enough (Mr Oizo Remix)
N.A.S.A. - Strange Enough (Designer Drugs Remix)
N.A.S.A. - Gifted (Steve Aoki Remix)
N.A.S.A. - Gifted (Aston Shuffle Remix)
N.A.S.A. - Gifted (Treasure Fingers Remix)

By the way, I didn't upload these myself, so they're not 'cleaned up'.

Round Up : May

Damn, damn, damn. Completely forgot that it was a new month. Absolute fool I am.

May has been mangled. Jump up for June!

Top 3 Most Downloaded:
1. Estelle - American Boy (Danger Remix)
2. White Lies - You Still Love Him
3. Digitalism - Apollo-Gize (Fred Falke Edit)

Commentary:
1. Excellent remix by Danger, cunning of him to put his name next to Estelle (Kanye West also feats in this song). Get it kids.
2. You Still Love Him epitomises the regret a girl experiences when she loses her love to another woman. Shame it didn't make it to the album.
3. A song about a relationship that doesn't quite work the way it should. Fred Falke's name guarantees this baby is a chilled-out, cheery track.

Top 3 Most Underappreciated:
1. Snob Scrilla - Spaceship
2. Ted & Francis - Erlend (G.L.O.V.E.S. Remix)
3. Simian Mobile Disco - Love

Commentary:
1. What are you doing. Get this track. Bag Raiders produced this. 'Nuff said.
2. Love song, done well. It actually is amazing.
3. See above. With added Simian Mobile Disco.
