G.L.O.V.E.S.

G.L.O.V.E.S. is a Melbourne home-boy. Isn't that enough of a recommendation for you guys?

This remix has been stuck on repeat on my iPod. It is masterfully done, the smooth piano, glittering synths, just wow, the production skills complement the vocals impeccably.

I sound like a wine critic.

Ted & Francis AKA Like Woah! Sydney equivalent of Damn Arms*.

Ted & Francis - Erlend (G.L.O.V.E.S. Remix)

We all love Van She.

Van She - Changes (G.L.O.V.E.S. Remix)

*G.L.O.V.E.S. is half of Damn Arms, the Melbourne version of Like Woah! Well, that's just my point of view.

Spaceship

Snob Scrilla's new track spaceship has got me salivating all over my Hamlet. Why?
I am enamoured with Snob Scrilla?
No.
I reckon 'Spaceship' is an absolutely spiffy name for a song?
No.
I am munching on some apple, and can't keep my mouth shut?
Partly.

The real reason is that Spaceship was produced by, wait for it, Bag Raiders!
Excellent.

Some more Bag Raiders goodness for your ears.

Don't Do It

This is one of the happiest songs I have heard for a long time, despite the fact it is named 'Teenage Suicide'. Clubfeet come from Sydney, Australia. Swell song. Reminds me of glossy sunshine available in six different colours.

Teen Love-rs

Whatcha up for kid? Some pop-oriented love story electro?

Yeah sure. Why not.

MSTRKRFT

I saw MSTRKRFT in the mX the other day. They were described as 'indie-electro' and they were also getting praise for their new album, Fist Of God.

Rubbish.

MSTRKRFT aren't indie-electro, they're more gangsta-electro. And their new album? Heavily criticised throughout the electro community as bland, uninventive, and an overall disappointing effort from MSTRKRFT.

Damn, I sound like a bit of a dick. MSTRKRFT have 10,000 times more skill than me, it's not right that I'm criticising them.

Okay, on a positive note, I am fond of this track from their album. Not half bad.

Mr. Shank

Okay, I kinda have a thing for A1 Bassline, AKA Christian Shank. Christian Shank. Even his surname is bloody awesome. Shank. He's also half-asian (I think). So waddya reckon kids? Coulson in the future? :)

But seriously kiddos, what I really love about him is his remixes. They meld Fidget, Dubstep and (of course) Bassline together seamlessly. But on top of that, he adds a little bit of an orchestral touch to his work. And that just makes it, you know?

Check it out when the time bar on your iTunes hits 3:04. Excellent.

Little Boots - New Town Girl (A1 Bassline Attack Mix)*

*I don't know if Mr. Shank was just being difficult, but he actually renamed Little Boots' original song. It's meant to be 'Little Boots - New In Town'. For some reason he also made two serparate remixes. Don't worry kids, you have the superior one in your grubby little hands. Trust.

We Love Sounds '09

What? Armin Van Buuren is headlining, and has his own stage? While Danger is placed just under Bobmo* on the last stage (the Yellow stage was at the bottom, but I edited the full poster so you kids wouldn't have a massive picture staring you in the face).

I think you kids should know by now that Danger is absolutely brilliant. Want more proof? New track**, courtesy of Mr. Rivoire.

Danger - 12h38

*Those kids spelt his name wrong. Seriously, you'd think they'd get it right on a flyer. Bombo sounds kinda funny. Although Bobmo does too.
**I squealed with delight when I saw this. And yes, I am a pansy.

I'm Not Your Toy

Have you seen La Roux's hair? It must take 5 and a half bottles of hairspray every 3 hours to keep that thing up. Anyway, I thought I would share this gem with you kids. Really dig the marimbas (?) subtlely placed in the background.

Vitalic

Vitalic is excellent. Why doesn't anyone know about him? Very underhyped. This came out recently, part of a comeback special from Heartbreak. Decent.

Heartbreak - We're Back (Vitalic Remix)

This is one of his original works. About 2.1 times better. The 30,000 feet club? Hmmmmm... Is that a play on 'The Mile High Club'. I don't get the whole concept of The Mile High Club, why would you want to have sex on an aeroplane? Turbulence would assure that you would miss a lot of the time. Oh well.

Get Hype!

Today is Saturday, as you can see above. Saturday is named after the planet Saturn, just like Monday is named after the Moon, and Sunday is named after the Sun. Imagine if there was a 'Plutoday'. Wouldn't really work, seeing as Pluto isn't a planet any more. Poor bugger.

Proxy-esque beats. Burring and durring like a dirty engine let loose. Get Hype!

Math Head - Get Hype

Fares

Metcard Fares are too high. Join the group of action. Hooh-ah!

Or, if you like music more, go for this. Classic 80's song with a modern take.

Killer Tram Driver

I was patiently waiting at the traffic lights today, for my chance to cross the road (I know, exciting). Had my WeSCs on, so you know, didn't have that panorama sense working quite right. Then this other tram comes along, and there's a 50-something woman driving it. She stops right in front of me, and yells through the tram speaker:
"You know how many people I've KILLED who wear those things?"
Woah, calm down. Maybe this will help.

Relaxed, easy French piano meets English Falsetto. Quite interesting.

Troll

I have been a troll of late. Eating children, asking for money at bridges, making inflammatory remarks and such. This song is an apology. It's actually absolutely lovely, in that typical French manner. Phoenix meets Fred Falke.

Chateau Marmont - Anything & Everywhere

White Lies Don't Hurt

White Lies have a penchant for making morbid yet beautiful music. It's kinda their signature sound. They released their debut album a few months ago, 'To Lose My Life'. This song didn't feature, for reasons that are beyond me. By far their best track.

White Lies - You Still Love Him

If depressing songs aren't your thing, you might want to try your hand out (no, I don't mean it in that way, you immature fool) at Fred Falke's masterful take on Digitalism's Apollo-Gize*. The original is about a failing relationship which needs patching up, but Fred Falke manages to
veer it away from that sound and smother it in honey-sunshine goodness.

Digitalism - Apollo-Gize (Fred Falke Remix)

*Despite seeing 'Apollo-Gize' over and over again (in the form of the original and numerous remixes, including my own) I consistently manage to spell it 'Appolo-Gize' on my first attempt. I guess my brain just wants me to type 'apple'.

Round Up : April

April has been annihilated. Move over for May!

Top 3 Most Downloaded:
1. The Black Ghosts - Any Way You Choose To Give It (Fake Blood Remix)
2. Shazam - Luckier
3. Dorian - People / Danger - 88h88

Commentary:
1. Nice to see my most played track (with exception to my own work) absolutely dominating the downloads. Get it if you don't have it yet kids!
2. Luckier is smooth and understated, yet manages to sparkle out. Amazing.
3. This was a tie between Dorian and Danger. Quite different tracks, People and 88h88. Still top picks in my opinion though.

Top 3 Most Underappreciated:
1. The Black Ghosts - Any Way You Choose To Give It
2. Esser - Work It Out (A1 Bassline Remix)
3. Mystery Jets - Half In Love With Elizabeth (Foamo Remix)

Commentary:
1. I really don't see why the original was just cast aside when put next to the Fake Blood remix. Yes, I know, it's Fake Blood, but still. This is one of my most played songs too, you know.
2. Gets off to a brilliant start. Finishes it even better.
3. You kids have got to love this rendition of Half In Love With Elizabeth. The classy vocals of Mystery Jets, merged with subtle, yet fist pumping beats. Classy.

Bonus For Rarchesters:

Anoraak - Nightdrive With You (Pomomofo Remix)

If I could describe something as being tender, uplifting yet danceable, this would be it.
